There's a little black spot on the sun today...

It's that time once again! Today's random iTunes download of the day (well, not that it's really that random because it was playing in Dos Caminos last night and I haven't been able to get it out of my head ever since) comes from none other than The Police, with a ill jam called "King of Pain" and this shit is THE SHIT right here. If you forgot about this joint in the endless shuffle of popular Police hits that seem to get more run, click on the pic below to revisit:

You might need an extra Ambien before bed tonight
if you don't want this crack to soundtrack your dreams!

But before the Well Done / 5G team convened on Park Avenue South for dinner last night, we hit up the MOCCA comic convention at the Armory. To all my fellow diggers out there, if you've ever been to a record show it's just like that, only instead of reps from local "mom & pop" shops, it's comic book artists and writers pushing their original work.

Lots of talent in this room!

Really super dope if you're into that sort of thing. We were there supporting my man Illus who does the Public Enemy comic series with Chuck D. He is also in the process of doing all the artwork for my record, and yesterday we got some great footage of him unveiling his almost-finished work to my homeboys louis logic and Jonny October who were seeing it for the first time. It's turning out real crazy! Just look at the expression on their faces if you don't believe me:

Illus, Jonny October, me, Big Lu, louis logic

Now, making the music is a meticulous process when you're as detail oriented as the perfectionists at 5G, but I can't even imagine taking on a task like doing the artwork and layout for a record when you not only have to be talented and creative as hell, but you also have to work within the vision the recording artist has for the project, as well as stick to the proper dimensions for the manufacturer. Shouts to my dude Illus man for real, because I know I wouldn't have the patience for all that. Congratulations are in order as well, because he's getting married in just a few days!

A pic of the happy couple sitting
across from me at dinner last night...
here's to a happy life together.

So there it is... my debut is recorded, mixed and mastered, the design is almost complete, final photography will be here later tonight or tomorrow, Boogs is doing the mixtape as we speak... I love it when a plan comes together.

We in here,
J.J.
